pH Levels

pH gets measured with readings in between 1.0 and 14.0 and pure water sits near the middle with a pH level of 7.0. The reading for pure water is what is considered a neutral reading. If the pH testing kit reads a pH level under 7.0 then the water is too acidy but if the reading is of a pH level over 7.0 then the water is alkaline.

Change pH Levels

pH-down is a product which works to lower your pH level. This item would be rather acidic. pH-up is a product which will assist your nutrient solution from changing pH levels and is also referred to as a buffer.

A 1.0 difference on the pH reading is equivalent to 10x of a rise or fall in pH level. Therefore if the nutrient solution has a pH level of 6.0 then it is 10x more acidic then a nutrient solution which reads a pH level of 7.0. if the pH level is spread apart by 2.0 then it’s 100x of a rise or fall in pH level.

Marijuana Plants – pH Level

When you are growing your marijuana plants you will want to make sure that you keep the pH level within a certain range. Even if you are a beginner at growing marijuana plants it’s important that you watch the pH levels in the nutrient solution or the growing soil to be sure that it stays in a recommended zone.

When you have a hydroponic setup the pH level of your nutrient solution and/or growing soil will weigh out how efficient your marijuana plants are at eating the plant food. Marijuana plants will not grow as fast when the pH level is not in the preferred zone.
