The nutrient solution in hydroponics is what sustains the plants so it is important that this be watched carefully, that pH testing be done regularly and that when it is time to change it that is done correctly.

When it is time to add water and plant food to the hydroponics pot plants it is not just added to the tubs below the plants. The water and plant food need to be completely changed. This is for several reasons; the first is because just adding to it can make to rich of a solution for the pot. This can be deadly to the crop or at the least affect the amount at harvest.

When it is time to add the solution of water and plant food, the tubs should be completely emptied and then the new solution added. This way the right mixture is reaching the roots of the plants to provide them with exactly what they need.

The solution that has been taken out of the tubs can be used for watering plants inside the house, outside vegetable gardens or flower gardens. There is nothing wrong with this solution, but to have the best hydroponics pot crop the water should be changed every two weeks.

When changing the solution the water that is used to mix with the plant food should be distilled water so that there are no chemicals in the water that could damage the hydroponics pot crop.
