Hours of Light per Day
The amount of light that your marijuana plants get will play a major role in how fast and how healthy they will grow. The first week of plant growth you should only have the marijuana plants lit up for eighteen hours on and six hours off every single day. As the light is on the plants will grow and when the marijuana plants get light longer they will grow faster – your electricity bill will follow though. After the marijuana plants get used to the lights you can increase the time that the lights are on to up to twenty hours or even twenty two hours every single day.
Distance
It’s important that you get your grow lights as close as possible to the top of the weed plants but if you go too close it can burn your weed plants. If the top of the marijuana plant dries a bit you should immediately move the grow light up a bit because the light is too close to your marijuana plants. Monitoring the activity of your plants every day (or a few times a day) can help out a lot. Indoor growing takes a lot of concentration and you have to give your marijuana plants a lot of attention for the crop to be successful.
Make sure that you don’t move your grow lamps too far away either though because the light will cause your marijuana plants to stretch out and be taller and have less bud. You would be wasting space in your grow room and energy from the lights if you put them too far away from the marijuana plants. When you first begin giving your marijuana plants light you should start with the lights too far away (especially if they are not fluorescent lights) so your weed plants can get used to the light. Every day you can move the lights down a bit till the weed plants are close enough but not dangerously close. Keep in mind that marijuana plants can grow in height up to three inches in just one day.
